My Green Morning Smoothie

My younger self would always associate smoothies with copious amounts of ice cream, milk and sweetness but I've learnt to embrace and love green smoothies for what they really are, incredibly refreshing and nutritious. It's also a really good way to incorporate greens into your diet without actively having to consume it on its own. Best of all, you don't even taste the goodness of spinach and kale in green smoothies which makes it convenient for those that struggle incorporating it in their diet. The recipe just require a blender and takes up to a minute to prepare, So let's get into it!

I recently have been having this smoothie in the mornings, because I'm not much of a breakfast eater to be honest and I enjoy having something cold and refreshing in the mornings instead. I have this solely based on the nutritional value, and consume it with this idea in mind. It isn't for everyone but I really enjoy it and if you are after the same thing, this might be for you.

Every morning I'll alternate between the two(Maca powder and Breakfast mix), adding just a teaspoon of either in the smoothie because they are quite strong in flavor. If you don't know what Maca powder is, to put it short; it is a root plant native to Peru that is known to help with mood, PMS and menopausal symptoms, and may help balance hormone levels.  Not only does it provide me with lots of energy but it does help with those things mentioned. I also add a little bit of chia seeds occasionally for a good source of Omega-3. Also, I find that the more ice the better with this recipe!

What green smoothies do you guys love?

  22. Just put it in raw, not cooked. It will blend all together and you wont notice it. Plus vegetables are better for you raw because when cooked they lose some of the nutrients! x

  42. I love smoothies in the summer, they are so refreshing but mine are nowhere near as healthy as these as it's mostly something like banana/pineapples combined with some sort of berries and mixed with coconut water. I sdhould try this out next time as it sounds quite yummy x
