Summer is well under way here in Australia and that means putting away my heavy duty full coverage foundations in favour of something a little more lightweight. In preparing for the warmer months I have been trying out two foundations that have replaced my beloved Estee Lauder Double wear (Gasp!). I know, I didn't think it would happen but I have embraced all that is sheer and am loving the results.
Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet
I've always been a little bit weary of sheer bases, but this Foundation is deception in a bottle! It's lightweight and sheer consistency would make you think that it wouldn't cover much but when I first applied it I was incredibly impressed, it covered my discolouration and blemishes whilst still letting the skin breathe. The formula is very watery and feels light on the skin when you apply it and because of this it blends into the skin like a dream! At the moment my skin is oily/combination and this foundation works beautifully with it. It offers a medium to buildable coverage and leaves a velvety matte finish to the skin which I'm loving at the moment. It is heavily scented and smells divine, so if you are sensitive to fragrances then just be careful with this one, I'm quite susceptible to breakouts with heavily fragranced products but this one seems to work fine with my skin. It's lasting power is around the six hour mark and seems to last quite well. Definitely my new favourite for the summer!
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide*
If you frequent my blog you would know I'm an avid Laura Mercier lover or hoarder, whatever you want to call it. I think they bring out some of the best foundations and their newest edition to the foundation family is their Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide! Besides their mineral powder, it is their first lightweight and sheer foundation that I have used and like the Chanel Perfection Lumiere, it offers a matte finish whilst also providing buildable coverage. Both comparatively are very similar products and offer the same results. The only difference is that the Laura Mercier although matte, allows the natural radiance of the skin to shine through more then the Chanel does. The Perfection Lumiere velvet masks it a bit more and provides a beautiful velvety finish but both are great, and very similar. Out of the two, the Chanel works better with my skin but both are incredibly good foundations and I'd definitely recommend them if your looking for a base that is lightweight.
I'm always trying out new products to use in my videos so if you'd like to see these foundations in action then don't forget to subscribe to my Youtube where I'll definitely be using them in some upcoming tutorials. Have any of you tried these foundations or have any other lightweight foundations that you'd recommend? Let me know in the comments.
